H has been a bit under the weather this week, so yesterday May Blossom and I went out to the back garden, a weedy jungle that has been roundly ignored since her birth, and picked him a bunch of flowers. We managed to find some dahlias, and oregano and mint that had gone to flower. We arranged them using a canny stuffing technique, shoving them into an alabaster vase I bought H home from Italy four years ago as an apology for running away to America and Europe without him for three months.
We’ve all been a bit in the weeds this week, but we’re sorting ourselves out. I have been inspired by my 102-year-old grandmother, who recently was feeling a bit rubbish but then gave herself ‘a good talking to’ and has cheeried up no end. She has decided to have her apartment renovated: new upholstery, paint, carpet — the works. I’ve decided that if she can do that at 102, I can open up a can of Buck Up and organise to renovate our cruddy old bathroom, like we have been talking about doing for about five years.
Stay tuned for sleep woes to be replaced with renovation woes. It’s going to be awesome.
Are you going to do it yourselves?
If you need a contractor, we have Mr Wonderful who just did Mill’s,in time and under budget and in fact built our house.

Now I think of it, he also did the extention to Petersham, knock out wall to dining room and wonderful full width doors to deck from kitchen,
whilst C and A were in France…ridiculously cheaply.

Can you send me his details please, WAJ? He sounds ace. No WAY are we doing it ourselves. That way divorce lies.

A very wise move. We are still not back home and I am not relying on my H (ever!) to do renovations again!
